Career - In January 2007 I joined Element Six as Chief Financial Officer. Element Six is the world's leading supplier of high quality superabrasives and industrial diamond materials.

Prior to Element Six, I was a divisional finance and commercial director with RAC plc. We built a business that outsourced the management and ownership of large and complex fleets of vehicles for clients such as MoD, British Airways and the Metropolitan Police. The division for which I was responsible also included the UK's largest commercial vehicle sales and servicing network, a logistics service business and the UK importership for Hyundai cars. Following the acquisition of RAC plc by Aviva plc in 2005, we spent 12 months restructuring and divesting the division.

Before joining RAC, I was a director with Braxton Associates Ltd, a strategy consulting company which is now part of Deloitte Consulting. Altogether I had spent 12 years with Braxton, working at board level all over the world with major businesses across a wide variety of industries. My early career was as an electronic engineer with Racal Electronics.

I am a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and am also a member of its governing council.

Education - I spent four happy years at St Johns College, Oxford, studying Engineering, Economics and Management. I also rowed, and sang in the college choir and a barber's shop quartet.

Domestic - I live with my wife, Susan, and family in Surrey. We're keen sailors, and used to race offshore, including the Fastnet race, which both my wife and I completed in 1997. That has been curtailed a little with the arrival of young children, but we still enjoy sailing on a more leisurely level when we get the opportunity.
